SecuraTrac – A Unique Gift for Techie Dads

SecuraPAL helps parents monitor children’s safety with special Father’s Day discount

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – A new tie, wallet, watch or golf balls are the gifts all dads expect to receive on Father’s Day, especially if they already have all the latest technological gadgets and BBQ tools they can use. Truly the best present for Dad though is the gift of less stress.

Most parents constantly worry about the safety of their children, especially when they are not together. A SecuraPAL® (Personal Automated Locator) GPS tracking device from SecuraTrac, a dynamic provider of personal location services focused on protecting children, lessens parents’ fears about whether or not their son or daughter made it safely to and from school, soccer practice, home or a friend’s house.

SecuraPAL® allows parents to pinpoint their child’s location in a matter of seconds, yet it is small enough to fit in a child’s pocket or backpack and weighs a mere two ounces. Harnessing the power of a network of GPS satellites, SecuraPAL® can report its location to parents automatically or on-demand and can provide up to 90 days of location history.

A key feature of the SecuraPAL® is its ability to report when it leaves pre-defined boundaries called SecuraFences. The fences are set up with as little as one click of the mouse, and a user’s first SecuraFence comes preset on their device based on their home address. There is no limit to the number of fences a customer can set up. SecuraPAL® proactively sends an email or text message alert to a user’s mobile phone and/or computer whenever the device enters or exits a SecuraFence. The SecuraPAL® can also be configured to notify parents and other designated individuals of a child’s whereabouts at regular intervals.

SecuraPAL® provides children with a sense of security as well. If a child is ever in a situation where they feel in danger or threatened, they can push the SOS button on their SecuraPAL® to immediately alert their parents or other guardians of their exact location with the aid of a friendly map and turn-by-turn directions. In honor of Father’s Day SecuraTrac is offering a 50% discount on SecuraPAL®.

For more information or to purchase a SecuraPAL and secure your peace of mind today, visit www.securatrac.com. You can now rent a SecuraPAL for your vacations in the US and abroad. To learn more about the rental program visit us online today.

Personal Automatic Locating Device Helps Finds Kids

Thousands of children are reported missing every year. And as a parent, whether you’re in a crowded shopping mall, amusement park or even your own yard, you know how scary it can be when you don’t see your child.

Chris Holbert is the creator of SecuraPAL. It’s a device that might help if your son or daughter goes missing.

Rent-a-PAL Allows Parents to Finally Relax On Vacation

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – For children, the anticipated months of summer vacation are nearly here which means trips to zoos, amusement and water parks, beaches and other fun-filled yet crowded attractions will soon fill many families schedules. While children embrace carefree days, the summer months are a nervous time for parents worried about their children’s safety and whereabouts.

All parents hope to avoid the sinking feeling of turning around and not immediately being able to locate their child in a crowd. Whether you are planning a family road-trip to the coast for a few days of sand and sun at a popular beach destination or staying closer to home and preparing to visit a local museum or roller coaster and water park, parents can now rent a new device from SecuraTrac to ensure their peace-of-mind during family outings.

At www.securatrac.com parents can arrange to rent a small, GPS tracking device called a SecuraPAL® for each of their children. The SecuraPAL is a small Personal Automated Locator that can be placed in a child’s pocket or attached to a belt that parents can use to locate their children should they go missing in a crowd. The SecuraPAL also has an SOS feature where children can push a button to send a text and/or email alert to their parent should they feel endangered at any time. When the SOS button is pushed the parent receives a message in about 10 seconds with the child’s exact location and directions on how to get there.

Additionally, parents can have SecuraTrac customize their rented SecuraPAL for their particular destination or trip where SecuraTrac will setup each SecuraPAL with pre-set SecuraFences, a virtual boundary, to further enhance a child’s safety and parents’ ability to relax on vacation. Parents can choose to have SecuraFences established around their hotel, an amusement park, museum or any other destination. If a child enters or leaves this virtual boundary or SecuraFence, an alert would be sent via text or email to notify the parent.

Parents can also rent a SecuraPAL for international travel with their children. Visiting a foreign country where you do not speak the language can be stressful enough, let alone having to worry about keeping your eye on wandering children while also taking in the sights. With a SecuraPAL parents can spend more time enjoying their vacation and have more opportunities to experience the culture of a foreign country. SecuraTrac does not charge additional fees for use of the SecuraPAL device outside of the U.S for trips under 10 days.

KSL5 Salt Lake City - Give Family Members Peace of Mind

Tracking devices give family members peace of mind

SALT LAKE COUNTY — Losing track of a child or an elderly loved one who tends to wander can be a frightening experience. There are products out there to help caregivers, but do police think they’re a good investment?

Shana Davis is a busy mom to 8-year-old triplets. Bennett, who’s autistic, is one of them.

“He has a tendency to wander,” Davis said. “He’s very impulsive.”

And, she says, that’s led to a few scares.

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had that sick feeling and I’m going, “Where’s Bennett? Where’s Bennett?” and I’m calling through the neighborhood,” she said. “And a neighbor across the street, she said, ‘Oh, he’s here, he’s at my house, he’s playing inside.’”

But these days, Davis says she has some peace of mind. She bought a SecuraTrac, a small GPS device that allows her to keep track of her son.

She goes online to install invisible fences around various places, like her yard. If Bennett crosses the fence, she’ll get an e-mail or text message on her phone, telling her where he is.

It also has an S.O.S. button he can push if he’s in trouble.

“I think anything that can assist in finding somebody that happens to wander is a very good idea,” said Lt. Don Hutson with the Unified Police Department.

Unified police recently began using a similar device, called the LoJack SafetyNet System, for rescues.

A transmitter, which is available for purchase, emits a radio frequency signal. Unified police, which partnered with Project Lifesaver, has a receiver that can track the frequency within a mile.

Hutson showed KSL how the device works. He wore the transmitter and hid outside.

Capt. Teri Sommers used the receiver to find a signal. As she headed north, the signal got stronger.

“This is showing that I’m probably 99 percent in this direction and how fast that beep is coming,” said Sommers. “And there’s Don right there.”

Police say there are several devices like this available for a price and a monthly service fee. Shana Davis says it’s worth it.

“This is going to provide a bunch of relief for me,” she said.

There are other similar devices available, and police say you should compare them to see which is best for you.

Orlando Sentinel writes about the SecuraPAL

New device keeps athletes safe on the road

As my runs take me farther and farther away from my home, I find myself thinking about just how safe I truly am. On Saturday, my 6-mile run took me under an I-4 overpass. As the overhead lanes shut out the sun, I glanced around me and thought, “This probably wasn’t the best idea.” I wasn’t in a “bad” part of town, however, I was alone and after running several miles, I was tired. Fending off an attacker wasn’t high on my list of things I wanted to do.

I made a mental note that I needed to plan my runs in advance… not just go where ever my feet take me. This wasn’t my normal loop, so no one knew where I was.

Of course, I’m probably more at risk of tripping over my own feet and injuring myself… and again, no one knew where I was.

SecuraTrac has come up with a device that aims to keep athletes safe using GPS technology. The SecuraPAL (Personal Automated Locator) has an SOS button, that when pressed for two seconds, sends a text message to a “pal” (people selected in advance) alerting them that you are injured or in some type of distress. In the text message received by the “pal” is the user’s exact location. An email can also be sent that includes the location, turn-by-turn directions to their location and a visual map.

If you always plan your workout route ahead of time or only bike and run on certain roads, SecuraPAL can also be used with virtual boundaries. These boundaries, or SecuraFences, are limitless and can be put in place by the user when logged into their online account. If you were to cross a SecuraFence during your workout your “pals” would receive a text message notifying them that you have left one of your designated areas and that something out of the ordinary might have occurred.

At 2 ounces, the device is lightweight and easy to slip into the tiny pocket built into running shorts. This device would also work to monitor children, elderly and even pets.

The SecuraPAL device is $199, but there is also a monthly fee. For more information, click here.

Some other tips on staying safe when you are exercising outdoors:

  • Carry pepper spray on your keychain — I always had some on hand when I ran at UF (thankfully, I never had to use it).
  • Let your spouse or roommates know your route and how long you are usually gone. That way if you don’t return after the allotted time, they know where to look.
  • Exercise with a friend.

GO GEAR - Keep Pals Apprised of Location

Albuquerque Journal: http://www.abqjournal.com/

Whether you are walking, running or biking, the reality is you never know what could happen when you are out on the road — but most of us still take our safety for granted when we leave home to exercise.

A new device from SecuraTrac, a provider of personal location and emergency notification services, can be used for a variety of security purposes, including keeping athletes safe.

The SecuraPAL (Personal Automated Locator) device uses GPS technology to help keep you safe, especially if you work out alone. Weighing a mere 2 ounces, SecuraPAL can be worn on a running belt or carried in a pocket. Measuring a few square inches, it is even small enough to fit inside the keycard pocket built into running shorts.

One of the most important features of the SecuraPAL device for athletes is the SOS button. By holding down the button for two seconds, a user can send a text message to a “pal,” alerting the person that he or she is in some type of distress. In the text message received by the “pal” will be the user’s exact location. An e-mail can also be sent that will include the location, turn-by-turn directions and a visual map.

If you always plan your workout route ahead of time or bike and run only on certain roads, SecuraPAL can also be used with virtual boundaries. These boundaries, or SecuraFences, are limitless and can be put in place by the user when logged into his or her online account. If you were to cross a SecuraFence during your workout, your “pals” would receive a text message.

SecuraTrac reports your movement during a workout to your personal account, allowing you to log in to view your route. With this information users can employ any Internet mapping technology to calculate how much distance they covered in their workout. Up to 90 days of history are stored.

The SecuraPAL sells for $199. There is also a $24.99 monthly subscription fee that covers use throughout the U.S. and internationally, but international trips must be less than two weeks. [NOTE: pricing has changed and the SecuraPAL sells for as low as $129.99 and the monthly pricing is now as low as $19.99 a month for unlimited service - click for updated pricing.]
